In August 2016, the annual Hall of Fame preseason NFL game between the Green Bay Packers and Indianapolis Colts in Canton, Ohio, was cancelled due to unsafe field conditions caused by a turf-painting mishap. The resulting class action, Treviso v. Pro Football Hall of Fame, alleged breach of contract and sought reimbursement for tickets, travel, lodging, and related expenses incurred by attendees. Originally filed in California and later transferred to the Northern District of Ohio, the case represented thousands of consumers who had purchased tickets but were denied the promised event. The settlement established a claims process enabling affected fans to recover eligible costs and reaffirming accountability in large-scale consumer events.
To effectively administer a nationwide consumer class action settlement while ensuring the notice campaign reached and resonated with the intended class members. The goal was to create broad awareness and accessibility through multiple communication channels, optimizing visibility, engagement, and claims participation.
CPT Group designed and executed a meticulous, data-driven notice campaign tailored to the target audience. Leveraging sophisticated media research tools, CPT implemented a layered digital strategy that included Paid Search, Programmatic Display, Social Media Advertising, and Online Video (OLV).
This 40-day notice campaign was complemented by direct email and text notifications to further extend reach. To streamline class member participation, CPT developed a custom interactive website, offering an intuitive online claims experience that simplified submissions and enhanced transparency throughout the process.
